Check the syllabus before building your topic list
Computer Fundamentals preparation should follow the entrance you actually plan to take. Confirm whether computer knowledge is tested, which topics are included and how much preparation it needs alongside other sections. This article is a study method, not an official syllabus.
Turn syllabus topics into small study units
For each listed topic, make a short concept sheet with definitions, comparisons and examples. Distinguish pairs that are easy to confuse, such as hardware versus software or primary versus secondary storage, when they are part of your prescribed coverage.
Use examples from real computer use. Understanding what a component or application does is more useful than memorising an isolated definition.
Use a three-part study session
- Learn: cover one small topic and write a brief explanation in your own words.
- Practise: answer a short question set without referring to notes.
- Review: explain every incorrect option and record the cause of your mistake.
Avoid memorising answers without reasoning
When practising multiple-choice questions, first identify what the question is asking. Explain why the correct option fits and why the others do not. If you can recall an answer but cannot explain it, revisit the concept.
Label a question as a previous-year question only when its exam and year are verified. Use “practice question” for original or unattributed examples.
Track accuracy before chasing speed
Maintain a mistake log with topic, answer chosen, correct reasoning and reattempt date. Revisit incorrect questions after a gap. Increase speed once your understanding is reliable; repeated rushed practice can reinforce the same error.
Connect sectional work to the complete entrance
Do not let one comfortable subject consume your full timetable. Map your time across the actual entrance sections. Introduce mixed practice and exam-length mocks after establishing the relevant basics.
